history

Texas Terror (1996-1997)

The franchise was founded in Houston in 1996 and played in the AFL through 1997. The Terror experienced two poor years, as they could only achieve seven wins in two seasons and both times missed the playoffs.

After the end of the 1997 season, the owners decided that the Terror would rename itself to Houston ThunderBears. For one thing, both the logo and the fan base are not worthy. According to a report, the reasons for this were the falling audience figures. A logo and name change should also give the franchise a new face and image and appeal to the Houston region more.

Houston ThunderBears (1998-2001)

The longed-for playoffs were reached in the very first season, but they failed in the first round due to the Arizona Rattlers. After that, the ThunderBears could never achieve more than four wins per season. The playoffs were always missed.

After the 2000 season, the owner of the Thunder Bears, Leslie Alexander , who also owns the Houston Rockets from the NBA , sold the franchise to the AFL. In its senior year, the franchise no longer played its home games in Houston, but instead appeared as a show team in various cities whose arena football markets were to be developed.

After the 2001 season, the franchise was dissolved.
