Thái Bình is a city in the Thái Bình Province in Vietnam . The city is 107 km from Hanoi. In the 2009 census, the population of the core city was 106,915 (1999 census: 62,719). The district-free city of Thái Nguyên had a population of 182,982 in 2009. The city is the seat of the administration of the Thái Bình province of the same name. The city has had town charter since 2004 and has the status of a provincial town of the 2nd class.
history
In the 10th century, the area was the domain of the Tran clan, who became the Trần dynasty at the beginning of the 13th century , which ruled Vietnam for almost 200 years. The city of Thái Bình (Chinese-Vietnamese: 太平) arose near the Keo Pagoda, which was built in 1061.
Before the country's prime minister declared it a city in June 2004, Thai Binh was officially a town . The city is the center of the province's economy and culture.
economy
The surrounding region is a densely populated and intensively cultivated low delta. It is one of the country's granaries. Thanks to an extensive irrigation network, rice can be harvested twice a year. Other crops include sweet potatoes, taro, corn, sugar cane, jute, mulberries, and rushes; Pigs and poultry are also kept.
