The company Thüringer Fahnenfabrik Chr. Heinr. Arnold was founded by Christian Heinrich Arnold in Sonneberg on May 1, 1857 and moved to Coburg in the same year . With the rare craft of picture stickers , flags for state and military purposes like standards were produced. Due to the success, the owner was appointed to the Duke of Coburg's court purveyor. After Christian Heinrich Arnold, the company became the property of Willy Heinrich Schneider in 1901. As the owner, he received the title of purveyor to the imperial court .

The flag factory at Callenberger Strasse 18 survived the turmoil after the First World War and also produced during the Second World War.

In 1957 August Koch took over the company and merged it with his own company on Querstraße, which his father had founded in 1925. In the Coburg flag factory August Koch & Sohn, the printing technology with magnetic bars was introduced in the 1970s. After August Koch's death in 1976, his son Hartmut Koch took over the family business and founded the Bayerische Flaggendruckerei company as a subsidiary. After the fall of the Wall , the Thuringian flag factory was revived as a GmbH on May 10, 1991 in Erfurt. In 2002 Fahnen Koch opened a production site in Eisfeld in Thuringia. The company had larger printing facilities and new sewing machines for manufacture.

The sons Carsten and Christian Koch were to join the company and take over the family business. But on August 5, 2012, Christian Koch had a fatal accident in a plane crash in Niederfüllbach near Coburg. In spring 2013, Fahnen Koch Koch-Design Coburger Fahnenfabrik Bayerische Flaggendruckerei GmbH, which still had five employees, filed for bankruptcy. In January 2014, the Koch family and their remaining company, Thuringian flag factory in Erfurt, managed to win back Fahnen Koch Coburg and initiate the merger of the two companies. Karin Koch, Hartmut Koch's wife, took over management of the company in 2015. The Erfurt production site was given up at the same time.

Since then, the company has been active on the flag market under the name "Fahnen Koch Thüringer Fahnenfabrik GmbH". The knowledge of the art of embroidery, the experience and the training, as well as the employees who have been taken on, produce the highest quality embroidery art. The flags of the factory are entirely domestic products and produced in Coburg. In addition to producing embroidered or printed flags and pennants , the company also does restorations .
