Thuringian Ministry for Federal and European Affairs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Thuringian Ministry for Federal and European Affairs was a ministry of the Free State of Thuringia . It was formed in February 1992 after the Thuringian Prime Minister Bernhard Vogel ( CDU ) took office and dissolved again in November 1994. The “Federal Affairs” division was incorporated into the Thuringian State Chancellery , while responsibility for “European Affairs” was transferred to the Thuringian Ministry of Justice and European Affairs .

History of the business areas

After the reestablishment of the Land (from 1993: Free State) of Thuringia as a result of German reunification , the responsibility for federal affairs initially lay with the Thuringian Ministry of Justice and most of the powers for European affairs with the Thuringian State Chancellery . When the Ministry of Justice was renamed the Thuringian Ministry of Justice, Federal and European Affairs on June 18, 1991, the two business areas were combined in one department.

When Bernhard Vogel took office as Minister President of Thuringia and the Vogel I cabinet was formed in 1992, the area of responsibility for federal and European affairs was outsourced from the Ministry of Justice and transferred to a separate Thuringian Ministry for federal and European affairs under Minister Christine Lieberknecht (CDU).

After the 2nd Thuringian state election in 1994 , responsibilities were divided among the coalition partners : European affairs came back to the now renamed and SPD- led Ministry of Justice and European affairs , while federal affairs were assigned to a CDU minister based in the Thuringian state chancellery . After the 3rd state elections in 1999 , the Justice Department also handed over European affairs to the State Chancellery. Since then, the function of Minister for Federal and European Affairs has been carried out by the Head of the State Chancellery in personal union.
