The Thuringian Forest source Mineralbrunnen GmbH is a beverage company from Schmalkalden in Thuringia Forest and wholly owned subsidiary of Hassia group . He mainly produces mineral water , lemonades and Vita Cola .

history

The company was founded in Schmalkalden in May 1991. It draws its mineral water from the Rennsteig fountain , which was opened in 1992. In 1994 the company acquired the trademark rights to Vita Cola , which it has been producing since then and selling it with the slogan "refreshingly different". In 2005, Hassia acquired the company from Brau und Brunnen .

Today the Thuringian Waldquell brand is the best-selling mineral water in Thuringia and the Vita Cola brand is the third most popular cola in the new federal states. The Berliner Zeitung wrote in 2004 that in Thuringia Vita Cola even outperformed its competitor Coca-Cola with a market share of 44 percent.

In 2010 the company employed around 130 people. In 2009, the sale of non-alcoholic beverages in bottles amounted to more than 100 million liters, which are mainly distributed in Thuringia and neighboring regions. In addition to mineral water and Vita Cola , the company also produces fruit-flavored waters and lemonades in various flavors. They are sold under the brand names Thüringer Waldquell and Rennsteigbrunnen .
