The Thainburgbrücke is a listed bridge in the city of Naumburg in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is recorded as a monument under registration number 107 25063 .

General

The Thainburg Bridge is a pedestrian bridge built between 1893 and 1894 over the former moat. It is considered a rare testimony to historical civil engineering and technical innovations in bridge construction in Germany. It is an early example of the Monier construction . The bridge has been a listed building since 2017.

history

The master mason Eduard Burkhardt acquired the land for the villas Marienmauer 17 and Marienmauer 18 from the city of Naumburg in 1893 with the condition that they would contribute to the cost of a pedestrian bridge. This pedestrian bridge was built from 1893 to 1894 by the Actiengesellschaft für Monierbauten, owned by the engineer Gustav Adolf Wayss . The wrought-iron railing was made by the blacksmith and locksmith Otto Teichmann and the master locksmiths A. Dathe and Gustav Ziller.

The bridge is located at the end of the extension of the Thainburg and connects to the state road 205. On the side of the Marienmauer you will find the entrance between the listed town villas with the house numbers 17 and 18.
