Thamudic was an Old North Arabic dialect documented by pre-Islamic inscriptions in the Arabian desert and Sinai . It was used between the 4th century BC. Until the 3rd or 4th century AD. The Thamudic dialect was gradually replaced by Arabic. The name Thamudisch is not derived directly from the name of the Thamud tribe .
