The Amazons are an English rock band from Reading . Their debut album, named after the band, brought them their breakthrough in their homeland in 2017.

Band history

Singer Matt Thomson, guitarist Chris Alderton and bassist Elliot Briggs had been on the road together for a long time before they founded the band The Amazons in 2014 in their hometown together with drummer Joe Emmet . First they built a local following and distributed promotional CDs in the supermarket. They quickly made a name for themselves and for their first EP they were able to win a renowned producer, Catherine Marks, who had already worked with Wolf Alice and the White Lies . Don't You Wanna with four songs was released in 2015. They also went on tour in Europe as the opening act for the Kooks .

Single releases followed in preparation for the first album, which further increased their popularity and led to their breakthrough being predicted at the beginning of the year in relevant forecasts such as Brand New for 2017 from the music channel MTV and Sound of 2017 from the BBC. The album with the band name The Amazons was released in May 2017 and immediately got them into the top 10 of the UK charts . In fact, with this success they were able to establish themselves and the second album Future Dust also came back into the top 10 two years later.
