The Angelic Process was a drone doom band founded in 1999 and disbanded in 2007 .
history
The Angelic Process was founded in 1999 by the couple Kristopher "K. Angylus" Fairchild and Monica "MDragynfly" Henson. The Macon, Georgia- based duo made their debut in 2001 with … and Your Blood is Full of Honey , which was released through Crucial Blast . With Coma Waering Artwrek Records 2003 and Weighing Souls With Sand via Profound Lore Records 2007 two more albums followed. Thereby forming Weighing Souls With Sand the last regular publication of the duo.
Fairchild ended the band's activity in October due to health problems. An impairment caused by the fracture of his right hand in a traffic accident worsened and prevented further music making. In June 2008, Henson made the April 2008 Fairchild suicide public. She gave various health and mental impairments as possible reasons for his suicide.
The compilation We All Die Laughing was released posthumously in 2017 via Burning World Records .
style
The style played by The Angelic Process is described as Drone Doom under the influence of the shoegazing style and ambient . Sometimes the music is referred to as Ambient Drone Doom . The music is often compared with that of Nadja and that of Jesus' debut .
The music for Drone Doom is usually dominated by echoing, slow and “spacious guitar walls” as well as bass playing in the low frequency range. The drums, on the other hand, are rather slow, cold and dry. The vocals are mixed into the background and also provided with reverb. The music transports a sad, yet warm, atmosphere similar to shoegazing.
