Koulová strouha is a mountain stream in the Czech part of the eastern Giant Mountains .

location

The springs lie between the southern slope of the Schneekoppe and its southern foothills Růžová hora (de:  Rosenberg , 1396 m). It flows in a deeply indented valley called "Důl pod Koulí", which used to be called "Kugelgraben" in German , between the Mittelberg (cs:  Prostřední hora ) and the Koule (de:  Kugel or Kugelberg , 1264 m). In its course from west to east, the stream overcomes 150 meters of altitude and the almost five-meter high Koulový vodopád waterfall . After just under one and a half kilometers, it flows into the Löwenbach (cs:  Jelení potok ) as its first major tributary.

Names

The German name, which can also be found in the Czech name of the Koule mountain, probably goes back to the nature of the stream bed and is related to the logging activities that are intensively carried out here and in the other side valleys of the Löwengrund (cs:  Lví důl ) . Numerous large and small boulders rounded because of their often smooth shape balls were called, the set timber floating against difficult obstacles, especially does not provide large quantities of water available to the creek.
