The Apprentice is a jump 'n' run released in 1994 exclusively for the CD-i game console .
Gameplay
Marvin , a sorcerer's apprentice, is given a series of tasks by his teacher, Mr. Wandburner . These consist in taking possession of a certain object in the levels . This happens not only on land, but also in the air and under water. In the air, Marvin is given a helmet with which he can fly, in the water he is transformed into a frog by the master. In addition, the weapon varies depending on the level, this ranges from a magic wand to a rubber ball, a water pistol to a laser pistol .
At the end of each level there is a boss to defeat. In addition, bonus levels can be completed.
reception
"Traditional & loving jump 'n' run with a few game elements, but meticulously sophisticated level design."
Retro Gamer magazine ranked The Apprentice among the ten best games on the otherwise largely unsuccessful CD-i in 2014.
A second part was in the early stages of development but was never completed.
