The Ballad of John Henry is the seventh studio album by American blues rock musician Joe Bonamassa . It was released on February 24, 2009 under the J&R Adventures label and peaked at number one on the US Billboard Top Blues Albums chart. The ballad is about the fate of the American railroad worker John Henry , who competed with his physical strength with a newly invented jackhammer, won it, but then died from exhaustion.

The music website Allmusic rated the album four out of five stars and commented that "Bonamassa put all his skills into this album and it may be his best album" ("everything that Bonamassa's dabbled with on previous albums is pulled together here, making." for his most varied album and possibly his best, even if that heaviness means that it's not necessarily the easiest to enjoy ") sei.
