The Barchans are a group of small, snow-capped islands off the Graham Coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . They mark the western end of the group of Argentine islands in the Wilhelm Archipelago .
The islands were mapped during the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill . It is named after snowdrifts on the islands, which are reminiscent of sickle dunes (also called barchans ).
