The Big O ( jap. THE ビッグオー , the Biggu Ō ) is an anime - television series from the year 1999 by Hajime Yatate . The anime was also implemented as a manga by the Japanese illustrator Hitoshi Ariga .

Anime

The Big O ran from October 1999 to January 2000 in thirteen episodes on the Japanese television station WOWOW . The series was produced by the animation studio Sunrise and directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama . The screenplay for The Big O was by Chiaki J. Konaka written.

In 2001, Cartoon Network aired the anime on US television and co-produced a second season. The also thirteen-part season was broadcast for the first time on Japanese television from January to March 2003 and was also shown a few months later on Cartoon Network in the USA:

Manga

Hitoshi Ariga began drawing a manga series based on the story of Hajime Yadate at the time of the first season airing, which was published in the Manga magazine Magazine Z until 2001 . From 2002 to 2003 the follow-up series The Big O - Lost Season followed for the second season. The Kōdansha publishing company also brought out The Big O in six and The Big O - Lost Season in two anthologies.

The first 14 chapters of the manga were published in Germany in Manga Power .

In the city of Paradigm City, the giant robot Megadeus, also known as "The Big O", fights crime. It is secretly controlled by Roger Smith, who acts as a negotiator between criminals and their victims of blackmail.
