The Canberra Times is a daily newspaper published in broadsheet format in the Australian capital Canberra . She is known to be politically neutral and not affiliated with any political party. The circulation is around 36,000 from Sunday to Friday and around 66,000 on Saturdays. Not only is it read in the city itself, but also in the surrounding rural areas of southeast New South Wales . The newspaper first appeared in 1926 , a year before Canberra became the capital. It has been owned by Rural Press Limited since 1998 . An online edition appeared for the first time on March 31, 1997.
