The Chambers Brothers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Chambers Brothers are an American soul group best known for their eleven-minute 1968 hit Time Has Come Today .

Band history

In the early 1950s, the four Chambers brothers sang gospels in a church choir . In 1954, they formed the band as the Chambers Brothers after moving to Los Angeles . Now George acted as bass player, George, Willie and Joe as guitarists and Lester as harmonica players. But they did not become known until the late 1960s - in Europe above all with the compilation That's Underground (1969) pressed in rainbow-colored vinyl , which included the title track of their fourth album The Time Has Come (1967).

The band broke up in 1972, but got back together in 1975 and exists to this day, with a changing line-up.
