The crescendos

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Crescendos was an American rock and roll group from Nashville , Tennessee , founded in 1957 by five Cumberland High School graduates, including lead singer George Lanius.

Band history

The formation was playing in a talent competition when Nashville DJ Noel Ball became aware of them. He made contact with Nasco Records, whereupon a record deal was signed in 1957 . In November of the same year, the debut single Oh Julie was released , in which the singer Janice Green, who happened to be in the studio, can be heard in the background . In January 1958, the title rose to the Billboard R&B and pop charts , where it reached the top 5.

After two other Nasco singles, School Girl and Rainy Sunday , flopped in 1958 , the group split in 1959. By 1961, the Nashville-based label Scarlet moved the singles Let's Take a Walk and Angel Face . Success was no longer a feature, which makes the quintet a one-hit wonder . After the split, the band never performed together again. The musicians pursued individual careers outside of the music business.
