The The Economist Building is the editorial offices of the British business newspaper The Economist . The building designed from around 1960 and built between 1962 and 1964 by architects Alison and Peter Smithson is one of the most important buildings of the post-war period and groundbreaking for brutalism .

The high-rise also houses an economic research institute.

The office building is on St. James Street . This stretches from Piccadilly to St James's Palace . The street is characterized by historic buildings from the 18th century.

The complex consists of three buildings that are designed as a steel frame construction. There is a four-story bank building directly on St. James Street; the actual 17-story office building is set back.

The building is 53 meters high.
