The Gift (band)
The Gift is a Portuguese pop rock band from Alcobaça and has existed since 1994.
history
After their first mini-CD Digital Atmosphere did not find a record company in Portugal, they went over to independent self-marketing. They gave numerous concerts, including the Centro Cultural de Belém and the Monastery of Alcobaça , and in 1999 they provided the soundtrack for a television series for the public broadcasting company Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) ( Não és Homem, Não és Nada ).
To this day, they publish all of their albums and singles on their own label “La Folie”. In 2005, The Gift won awards at the MTV Europe Music Awards hosted by Sacha Baron Cohen in Lisbon's Pavilhão Atlântico .
The Gift played only once in Germany so far, at Cologne Cathedral in 2006 as part of a Portuguese television program by the RTP before the World Cup match Portugal-Angola.
Her LP Explode was chosen by "Art Vinyl" 2011 among the 50 most successful cover designs worldwide (27th place).
The singer Sónia Tavares also took part in the Project Hoje , together with the Moonspell singer and two other musicians (including The Gift keyboarder and songwriter Nuno Gonçalves) and her project Amália Hoje (reinterpretations of songs by the singer Amália Rodrigues , 23 weeks long in 1.)
