The Hawk, the Beak, the Prey is the debut album by the Berlin band Me and My Drummer , which was released on May 11, 2012 on the Sinnbus label . The album was produced by Tobias Siebert at Radio Buellebrueck Studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Emergence

Singer Charlotte Brandi justified the orientation of the album with the onset of winter in Berlin, which made her write melancholy pieces. The album was dedicated to Peter Freiberg.

style

On their debut album, the two musicians Charlotte Brandi and Matze Pröllochs completely dispense with instruments such as guitars and construct their characteristic and minimalist sound only from drums , keyboards and vocals. The textual plot of the album relates to different areas such as death ( You're a Runner, Runner (Reprise) ) or paranoid schizophrenia ( Phobia ). Because of its ethereal textures and moods, the album can be assigned to dream pop , with Me and My Drummer opposing the use of the genre-typical guitar and relying more on synthesizers , pad sounds and keyboard bass.
