The Hellfreaks is a Hungarian psychobilly band with female vocals that was founded in Budapest ( Hungary ) in 2009 . From the third album onwards, the band turned to punk rock.

history

In February 2009 The Hellfreaks was born. However, the band's history began back in 2007 when the two founders played in a surf psycho band called Los Tiki Torpedoes . Freaky Tiki was a guitarist and Shakey Sue was a drummer. After many appearances together, the two decided in 2009 that they wanted to take a harder pace musically. This is how The Hellfreaks formed, who are stylistically positioned between psychobilly, horror punk and metal.

In 2010 the first album was released with Hell, Sweet Hell . In the summer of 2012, the second album, Circus of Shame , was released, which was not only on CD but also in a limited edition pressed on red vinyl.

After the band hadn't been heard in a long time, singer Sue announced at the beginning of 2015 that the band was back with a new line-up and would go on tour in the USA and Europe in 2015 and 2016. The double bass has been replaced by an electric bass.

In 2016 the third album Astoria was released , with which, according to the band, a style change from psychobilly / horror punk to female fronted modern punk-rock-riot! was carried out. The style on Astoria is reminiscent of the early sound of the band The Distillers .
