Norbert Karg

Norbert Viktor Karg (born November 27, 1954 in Haßfurt , † October 19, 2001 in Ankara ) was a German archaeologist from the Near East .

He studied Near Eastern Archeology, Assyriology and Hittiteology and received his doctorate in 1983 from the University of Munich under Barthel Hrouda . In 1984/85 he received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . From 1987 to 1992 he worked as a scientific consultant at the commission for general and comparative archeology of the DAI in Bonn; during this time he dug u. a. in Sri Lanka . Since 1990 he has participated in the excavations of Kinet Höyük in Cilicia . In 1993/94 he taught at the University of Cairo and since autumn 1995 at the Bilkent University in Ankara.
