Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business

The Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business is a degree program at the University of Pennsylvania . It combines business, foreign languages ​​and general education and is named after the industrialist and founder Jon Huntsman senior .

Graduates of the Huntsman program receive two degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from General School and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Penn's Wharton School . The prerequisites also include completing at least one semester of study abroad.

Every year, around 45 students are admitted from over 1000 applicants. To have a chance of admission, applicants must be fluent in at least one foreign language, have advanced math skills and write an additional application essay. The Huntsman program is more selective in admitting students than the three most prestigious Ivy League universities of Harvard , Yale and Princeton .

The total of 206 graduating students in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 represent 34 nationalities and 30 US states. There are currently eleven "Target Languages" available: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.

The number of Huntsman alumni is still quite small, as the first grade didn't finish until 1998. There are now a total of 261 Huntsman alumni. A comparatively very high number of Huntsman alumni have received various renowned academic awards such as Rhodes Scholarships or Fulbright Fellowships .
