The Isles are an American indie band from New York City .

Band history

The band was founded in 2003 by New York musicians Andrew Geller, Ben Haberland and the brothers Ryan and Tim McCoy. December 2003 the band had their first appearances in New York. In 2004 the Isles gave regular concerts on stages in New York and the surrounding area. In 2005, Binder Records released their first EP Back To Terrific . In the same year they were on tour in England for the first time. In 2006 the band released their first single Eve Of The Battle , the EP Summer Loans and their debut album Perfumed Land , which attracted attention in the European music scene and received very good reviews. In the USA, however, the band has so far gone unnoticed. In autumn 2006 the band gave concerts in New York again and went on a promotional tour for their album in Ireland, England, France and Belgium in November and December. In the spring of 2007, appearances in the USA followed. Although the band comes from the USA, their current song material is distributed via the British label Melodic Records , which is based in Manchester . Andrew Geller has been working on new song material for a long time.

style

The music of the Isles sounds like British pop from the 80s and is reminiscent of Morrissey . Like the Smiths , the Isles often address existential questions about their own identity in their texts.
