The Kildare Hotel and Golf Club (The K Club) is a golf and leisure complex in Straffan , County Kildare , Ireland and was built on the grounds of the former Straffan House estate.

The K Club is one of four 5 Red Star Hotels in Ireland (rated by The Automobile Association ). It is also home to two superb golf courses designed by Arnold Palmer :

  • the "Palmer Course", also known as the North Course or Old Course , and
  • the "Smurfit Course", also called South Course or New Course .

The Smurfit European Open - a top tournament of the European Tour - was held on the Palmer Course from 1995 to 2007 (except in 2004, when the event took place on the Smurfit Course ).

From September 22nd to 24th 2006 the Ryder Cup was held at the Palmer Course - for the first time in Ireland.
