The Neuhofer See is located in the Sternberg lake landscape in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg northeast of Schwerin. The west, east and south banks form the border with the Ludwigslust-Parchim district . Larger communities in the area are Warin and Brüel . The neighboring municipality is Tempzin Monastery . The eponymous village of Neuhof is a district of Bibow and is about two kilometers from the lake. The lake is surrounded by a belt of reeds. It is just under a kilometer wide in the north and narrows to the south.
