Langen Jarchow is a district of the municipality of Kloster Tempzin in the north of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

Geography and traffic

Langen Jarchow is located in a hilly landscape between Lake Neuhofer in the north and Lake Keezer in the south. There are no other lakes in the local area. There are no larger forest areas. The highest point in the local area is an unnamed height southwest of Klein Jarchow at 66  m above sea level. NHN . The connection to Zurow (distance 18 km) of the Baltic Sea motorway A 20 ( Lübeck - Stettin ) can be reached via the federal highway 192 . The next larger city, Brüel, is six kilometers away.

history

An urn field from the earlier Iron Age was discovered nearby. A grave field from the late Roman Iron Age (the Häven clasp ) was also excavated. The place was first mentioned as a fiefdom of Martin von Mallin in 1219. In 1509 the area came to the Tempzin monastery . From 1794 until the Second World War , Langen Jarchow belonged to the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg . After 1945 the place belonged first to the state of Mecklenburg and then from 1952 to 1990 to the district of Schwerin .

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Häven was incorporated. On January 1, 2016, the municipality of Langen Jarchow was dissolved. Together with Zahrensdorf they formed the new community of Tempzin Monastery.
