The Lodger (Engl. For The Goodbye ) is an English indie pop band from Leeds .

Band history

The Lodger was born when Ben Siddall was recording demos on his PC in Leeds and playing them to an interested audience. Home-burned CDs were soon making the rounds of the Leeds music scene. Eventually the newly founded label Dance to the Radio became aware of the music project and offered to produce a single. For upcoming live performances, Ben Siddall was able to quickly win Lisa Harker and Bruce Renshaw, which soon became a permanent group. In early 2005, Unsatisfied, the first compilation contribution and Many Thanks For Your Honest Opinion, the first single of the band appeared. Further publications followed in the same year. In late 2005, Lisa Harker and Bruce Renshaw left the band and were replaced by Katie James and Joe Margetts.

In 2006 London's indie label Angular Records released The Lodger's first single with the new line-up. Let Her Go won the BBC's 6music Rebel's Playlist . In September 2006 the band members went to the studio to record their debut album. At the end of 2006 a headliner tour through Great Britain and Germany followed, on which the new songs were also presented. Grown-Ups finally came out in 2007 and received good reviews. In 2007 The Lodger went on a UK tour with The Long Blondes , came to Germany in the spring and toured the USA in the fall. Further releases in 2007 were Kicking Sand / Centuries and Let's Make A Pact .

In 2008 The Lodger moved from Angular to Bad Sneakers Records and released the second studio album Life Is Sweet in May 2008 , with Bruce Renshaw on drums again. The Good Old Days was released as a single . In Germany, the band's releases are distributed by Noise Deluxe Records , in the USA by Slumberland Records , in Japan by Fabtone and in Australia by Speak'n 'Spell . In the summer the band came to Germany on their promotion tour.
