The Looney Tunes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Looney Tunes were a German surf rock band from Hamburg and formed in 1992 around the guitarist Sebastian Hartmann ( Kahuna Kawentzmann ). By the band's dissolution in 1998 , the Looney Tunes released three albums.

history

After Sebastian Hartmann had released his first single with a rockabilly and psychobilly band in the mid-1980s, he began to make his own recordings in 1988 and oriented himself towards surf rock .

In 1992 he looked for other musicians, Kay Garbrecht ( guitar ) and Ulf Rehwagen ( drums ) to found a surf formation. After one of the first appearances in 1992, Thomas Ritter from String Records approached Looney Tunes and offered a record offer. The album Cool Surfin 'was recorded in the summer of 1993 and released by String Records in February 1994. With the appearance of the film Pulp Fiction in 1994 and the growing interest in surf rock, there were numerous opportunities to perform and also the opportunity to reach a new audience in the mid-1990s. On the second album The Modern Sounds of the Looney Tunes in 1995 Thomas Ritter took over the electric bass and Chara Ganotis took over the drums . Before the last album Beyond The Dune from 1997, Kay Garbrecht and Thomas Ritter left the band. Thorsten Seif was a new bass player. After Thorsten Seif and Chara Ganotis left the band in 1998, the formation was disbanded.
