Machine vocalist Melle Mel is one of Africa's long-time companions and was involved in Grandmaster Flash's 1982 The Message . Ernie C, guitarist from Body Count , joined the formation as another guitarist. Other members of The Machine are Steffen Wilmking (drums) from the H-Blockx , Donald D (Rhyme Syndicate) as vocalist and Jan-Hendrik Meyer (bass / Hudson) as well as DJ Crazy Cuts.
For the recording of the first album was Afrika Bambaataa , Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers , the mastermind of Public Enemy Chuck D , Kool Keith , D-skirt by Body Count, Doug Wimbish, Vernon Reed of Living Color and Ice-T are obtained .
