history

The founding members Tim Bluhm, Greg Loiacono, Isaac Parsons and Mike Wofchuck met in 1990 as students at California State University and first appeared together as a band. In 1993 the Mother Hips released their debut album Back to the Grotto . This was followed by Part-Timer Goes Full (1995) and Shootout (1996).

Drummer Mike Wofchuck left the band in 1997, and John Hofer took his place. With this line-up, the Mother Hips released Later Days (1998) and Green Hills of Earth (2001).

In 2002 bassist Isaac Parsons got out and was replaced by Paul Hoaglin, who had produced the Mother Hips' debut album almost 10 years earlier. Shortly thereafter, the Mother Hips temporarily disbanded, only to get back together in late 2004. The EP Red Tandy was released in 2005, the album Kiss the Crystal Flake in 2007 and Pacific Dust in 2009 .

Paul Hoaglin left the Mother Hips in 2011 for personal reasons. He was followed by Scott Thunes . Hoaglin was still involved in the recordings for the 2013 album Kiss the Crystal Flake . In 2014, the Mother Hips produced a collection of previously unreleased pieces called Chronicle Man that were created during studio sessions in the mid-1990s.
