The New Yardbirds were a British band from the transition phase from The Yardbirds to Led Zeppelin .
history
When in 1968 the Yardbirds got tired of touring and their records stopped selling, singer Keith Relf broke up the band. In order to fulfill contractual obligations, the guitarist Jimmy Page gathered new musicians around him, although Chris Dreja stayed with him at first. After Dreja left during the year, The New Yardbirds toured Scandinavia with Robert Plant and John Bonham. Various bootlegs have been preserved from this tour. Their repertoire was the same as that of the Yardbirds before, psychedelic blues rock . After the end of the tour and Dreja's departure, the band was renamed Led Zeppelin . At the beginning of 1969 the first LP was released under this name. The New Yardbirds have not released a single record, and no studio recordings are known.
