The Oriental Singapore
The Oriental Singapore is a five-star hotel in the city-state of Singapore . It has 524 rooms, 3 restaurants , a coffee shop, bars , a shopping arcade, a swimming pool with a children's pool, a whirlpool, a sauna , a fitness center and a spa. It is close to Marina Bay and Merlion Park , around 22 km from Singapore Airport and around 6 km from the business center.
history
The original building was designed by the architects John Portman & Associates , Atlanta / USA, and DP Architects Pte Ltd., Singapore. The hotel opened in 1987 under the name The Oriental Singapore .
Reconstruction and renaming
Between August 2004 and March 2005 the building was fundamentally redesigned. For this purpose, the hotel was interrupted from August to November 30, 2004. Operations were partially resumed the following day and continued without restriction from March 2005. As part of the renovation, the hotel was extensively modernized and adapted to current tastes. The new design was worked out by LTW Design Works , a company that had also redesigned The Oriental Bangkok , which belongs to the same group of companies . Both houses are operated by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group .
On September 25, 2007, the house was renamed Mandarin Oriental .
