Mandarin Oriental
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group , or Mandarin Oriental for short , is a Southeast Asian hotel chain that operates luxurious hotels in the 5-star category. It is a subsidiary of the Jardine Matheson Group. Her portfolio includes hotels in Asia , Europe , the Middle East, Africa and America . The design of the Mandarin Oriental Group combines 21st century luxury with traditional oriental elements.
Companies
The group was formed with the opening of Mandarin , Hong Kong in 1963. With the acquisition of a 49 percent stake in Oriental , Bangkok in 1974, the company expanded its hotel holdings.
In 1985 the company carried out an operational restructuring, in the course of which the two hotels were merged under the parent company name Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. Two years later, in 1987, the company went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as a public company under the name Mandarin Oriental International Limited, with net assets of US $ 277 million (~ 233 million euros) .
Mandarin Oriental International Limited is officially registered in Bermuda and is listed on the stock exchanges in London , Singapore and Bermuda. She manages all activities from her headquarters in Hong Kong. The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group owns and operates hotels, luxury resorts and residential residences. It grew from an Asian hotel group to a global brand and currently operates or develops 44 hotels with over 11,000 hotel rooms in 25 countries, including 20 in Asia, 10 in America and 14 in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Furthermore, 13 “Residences at Mandarin Oriental”, each connected to the hotel properties, are part of the hotel group's portfolio or are in the development phase.
On February 9, 2009, fireworks caused a fire in the new building of the Television Cultural Center in Beijing , where a new Mandarin Oriental was also to be built. The 44-story building, which was about to open, could not be saved and burned down completely, albeit without collapsing.
The Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas (August 2018) and Atlanta (December 7th , 2018 ) are now part of Waldorf Astoria .

As of July 2014, the company operates 28 houses in Asia , Europe and North America . The only Mandarin Oriental in the German-speaking area is in Munich .
