The Palisades ( English for Die Palisaden ) are a steep cliff in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . This is located on the west side of the Cotton Plateau in the Queen Elizabeth Range and overlooks the mouth of the Marsh Glacier in the Nimrod Glacier to the east .

The north group of a campaign carried out from 1961 to 1962 as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (1961–1962) named the cliff after its resemblance to palisades , which are used to fortify banks at an estuary.
