The Passage is an American television series based on Justin Cronin 's trilogy of novels of the same name , beginning with The Transition . The first broadcast took place on January 14, 2019 on the US broadcaster Fox . On May 10, 2019, Fox announced that production of the series would not continue after the 1st season.

The story follows a project called "Noah" at a secret medical base where scientists are experimenting with a dangerous virus to create a cure that can cure various types of diseases. However, there are serious consequences that could destroy humanity.
