The Rootsman

The Rootsman (* 1965 in Brighton , Sussex ) is a musician and DJ from Bradford , Great Britain . His musical career began in Edinburgh , Scotland in 1978 at the age of 13 . There he founded his first punk band "State Oppression". He went to Bradford (Central England) in 1983 and worked there in the local Roots Record Shop, where he became known as the "Rootsman". In 1985 he started his first local sound system and played as a radio DJ on university radio and local pirate stations. The Rootsman is one of the most important English neo-dub / steppers producers. In the mid-1990s he founded his own label called "Third Eye Music".
