The SMU is a German rock band that was founded in 2005. The band's founding members include U the SMU (vocals), DanU (vocals), Ben Martin (guitar), Steve SMU Smith (keyboards) and Mr X (drums). In 2008 Tobi Tobstar (bass) joined the band. The band describes their music as disco rock .
history
The band released their debut album DiscoRock in 2005 . In 2005 and 2006 she performed at festivals and clubs in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2007 she went on her first tour of China with performances in Ningbo, Shanghai and Hangzhou. In the same year the filmmaker Holger Meyer published a road movie about the band. In 2008, the second China tour followed with over 40 appearances in one month, including appearances at CRI, Beijing TV, in the Grand Theater Ningbo and in the Olympia Park Beijing as the official representative of the city of Cologne during the Olympic Games, as well as on the open air stage of Coca-Cola in Beijing. The band has already produced two singles exclusively for the Chinese market. In the two songs they sing about Chinese cities: "Beijing" and "Ningbo".
