The Sentinels (from English sentinel , guard, guard post ' ) are a small group of cliff rocks off the north coast of South Georgia . They are located in the entrance to Godthul Bay on the west side of the Barff Peninsula .
Its existence has been known since around 1912. The first precise mapping and descriptive naming was carried out by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations during the course of surveys in 1929.
