The Side, 2013

The Side is a Britpop band formed in Scotland in 2005 .

It consists of Hugh Winton (guitar, vocals), John Ross (drums), George Campbell (keyboard) and James Richards (bass).

After four EPs , the band released their debut album Nowhere Left to Run in 2009 . In 2010, her song, The Countys Going to Hampden, written for Ross County football club, played at the Scottish FA Cup final at Hampden Park Stadium and reached number 23 on the UK Indie Breakers Charts. The Side also played as the opening act for Bon Jovi in the O₂ Arena in London, winning a competition for bands without a record deal . A concert recording was released on DVD. Since then, the band has performed at festivals across Europe, including as opening act for Texas . In July 2011 the single Lost and Found was released . In August 2011, the band announced their impending breakup on Facebook . In May 2013 the band got back together, with Ryan Golder being replaced on bass by James Richards. In July 2013 The Side played for the second time after 2011 at the Rock um Knuedler festival in Luxembourg.
