The SlimP is a wave / alternative band founded in Cologne in 2003 .

history

The line-up of the band has remained unchanged since The SlimP was founded in Cologne in 2003. In 2004 Elisa Day, Bernd, Mart and Silke released their first studio album Masquerade on their own .

In 2005 they experimented with the line-up for the first time: A guitarist friend supported the band live and in the studio. The result of this collaboration can be found on the album Some Seconds Later . The title of the CD is based on the early The Cure -Werk Seventeen Seconds .

To celebrate its 5th anniversary, The SlimP released the first two albums in remastered quality in 2008 as a digital album Recall from 2003-2005 on the internet label afmusic . A mini tour to Great Britain rounded off the successful year 2008.

For the release of the 11-song third studio album Wavelands in 2009, the label Danse Macabre was won over in addition to afmusic . The songs on Wavelands seem much more compact and adult than on the previous albums. The band then stepped a little shorter live due to the addition of the family and prepared material for the next album, which was planned for 2011 but did not appear.

style

The most important feature of The SlimP sound is the use of two basses. This creates a special depth and gloom. Female and male vocals create contrasts. Based on models from the 1980s, The SlimP transports the guitar wave into the new millennium. The name The SlimP (pronounced "The Slimp") is the abbreviation for "Shimmery Liquid in Marvelous Plasticbottles". Ever since it was founded, the band has been searching for the deeper meaning of this inspiration.
