Theater Naumburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Naumburg Theater is a theater in Naumburg (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt , in the Saale-Unstrut region . Drama as well as children's and youth theater as well as puppet and puppet theater are united under one roof by the “smallest city theater in Germany” with around twelve employees.

At the end of 2018 it was announced that the theater was planning to move to a new location.

building

The Naumburg Theater is located in the building of the former restaurant “Goldener Hahn” and in the neighboring house “Uhren Wesemann”. In addition, the theater uses the two Salztor houses, built in 1835, as a rehearsal room and as a workshop for primarily woodwork. There is also an outsourced collection of dolls.

Other out-of-home productions take place, for example, in the Marientor , in the Nietzsche Documentation Center and in the Turbinenhaus artwork within Naumburg.

Federal Theater Prize 2017

In the 2016/17 season, the Naumburg Theater, along with seven other theaters, received the Federal Theater Prize worth € 115,000 for its work. The Minister of State to the Federal Chancellor, Prof. Monika Grütters , Member of the Bundestag, justified the decision by saying that “the Naumburg Theater is de facto a new theater: in 2009 it was converted from a puppet theater into an ensemble theater. Since then, as the smallest city theater in Germany, it has developed a program for all generations - and especially since 2015, when Stefan Neugebauer took over the management, it has spread far into the small but history-filled city, conquering churches, museums, courtrooms - and the audience. For example, with only four ensemble members, he also succeeds in Goethe's “Faust” at two different venues - close to the text and yet original. With the award ceremony we would like to honor this commitment as well as the courage of the municipality to build up an ensemble in times when people tend to think about building ensembles and theaters. "

Doll exhibition "Wooden heads and string pullers"

For many decades, the marionette and puppet theater made a name for itself across the country. Around nine hundred dolls had been created by 2018 - each lovingly handcrafted. Reason enough for Theater Naumburg to make the most interesting one hundred dolls and figures from the fund available to the public in a one-off presentation. The puppet exhibition "Holzköppe und Strippenzieher", which was funded by the Federal Theater Prize, could be viewed from August 18 to October 28, 2018 in the Marien-Magdalenen-Kirche . It was designed by the Naumburg puppeteer and director Kristine Stahl and the Cologne figure maker and set designer Andreas Becker.
