Layerl theater family

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The theater family Schichtl was a German showman - and puppeteer dynasty . Its roots go back to 1758. The family members ran showmen and vaudeville businesses and were particularly known for developing many tricks and peculiarities.

Around 1880 the family divided Germany into three play areas in order not to compete with each other. Michael Augustschichtl (1851-1911) worked from Munich from southern Germany, Johannschichtl (1840-1906) worked from Bobenheim in the Rhineland and Palatinate, while Franz Augustschichtl (1849-1925) from Hanover for the north and Central German area was responsible.

The nameschichtl is known to this day at the Munich Oktoberfest . The artist family's “Magic Theater”, initially run by Michael Augustschichtl with his brothers Franz August and Julius, was there for the first time in 1869.
