Theo Kars
Theo Kars (born March 22, 1940 in Rotterdam ; † November 10, 2015 ) was a Dutch writer , essayist and translator . He lived in Amsterdam and was one of the most prominent authors in the Netherlands.
Life
Kars grew up in a Protestant environment, but soon separated himself from his parents' home and refused any form of worship. He led a non-conformist and hedonistic life.

Kars was sentenced to a heavy fine for fraud against the PTT (the Netherlands' state post and telecommunications company until 1989). He processed his experiences in the books "De Vervalsers" and "De Huichelaars".

In 1964 he founded the “Tegenstroom” magazine, the editions of which are now coveted collector's items.
His 2003 book “Praktisch Verstand” (German: “Philosophy for Nonconformists: A Little Guide to the Art of Living”) is a standard work for nonconformists. Kars' hedonistic and non-conformist approach to life is reflected there in sometimes provocative aphorisms, advice and anecdotes.
