The Theod. Mahr Söhne GmbH is a medium-sized company specializing in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technology based in Aachen , which is now managed by the fifth generation of the Mahr family.
history
The company was founded on March 1st, 1841 by the master locksmith Hubert Theodor Mahr with the furnace locksmith Mahr. With his ideas for warm air heating, in which warm air is supplied to the individual rooms from a central location via a pipe system, he became known when he brought the first warm air heating onto the market in 1850 . The company then expanded and developed the central air heating division , with which it also became known abroad. So around 1900 the 1500th air heater could leave the Aachen factory. Today the company, with several thousand heating systems installed, is one of the most renowned and experienced of its kind.

In the decades that followed, the company expanded, added the air conditioning sector to the heating technology , added the sanitary technology and solar technology divisions and specialized in the area of church heating . The company has around 50 service vehicles in the customer service area.
Church heating
The peculiarity of the church heating lies in the tall, large buildings with niches with large windows and high air exchange, which must be controlled. In the past, churches were only heated with a stove for worship, today there are requirements not only for temperature but also for air humidity, so that church furnishings such as organ, paintings, wood carvings, sculptures etc. are protected from condensation . The company is also doing research in this area and has coined the concept of conservative church heating, with which it became the market leader. Due to the increasing success in the church heating segment, the company also became better known internationally.
