Theodor Fontane Prize of the German National Academic Foundation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Theodor Fontane Prize was awarded every two years from 1996 to 2004 by the German National Academic Foundation. It was not a successor to the award of the same name, which was first awarded in 1913 .

The Prize of the Studienstiftung was endowed with 2,500  and was awarded at the same time to several scholarship holders who are “particularly committed to projects aimed at promoting understanding across national borders”. This commitment should happen alongside your studies; you could not apply for the prize either, but had to be suggested by the speaker or liaison officer of the Studienstiftung. The prize was first awarded in Bonn in 1996.

The award honored initiatives and individual achievements towards transnational understanding. It should enable the award winners to continue to support their goals and projects in international connections and in the integration of foreign residents in Germany.

The Theodor Fontane Prize was awarded to a maximum of ten scholarship holders who had set an example against xenophobic tendencies in our society in recent years .
