Theodor Holterdorf

Theodor Holterdorf (born January 26, 1910 in Dortmund  ; † October 27, 1991 ) was a German composer .

Life

Holterdorf studied in Munich and Berlin. Joseph Haas and Hans Pfitzner were among his teachers . At the age of 23 he began his work at the Bremen Theater, where he worked for almost 40 years as a solo coach, course director, conductor and drama composer.

In 1980 he took on a teaching position at the Bremen University of the Arts.

Performances of his works have been broadcast on the radio.

His work includes vocal and instrumental music, three operas and numerous stage music as well as ballets. His opera Alexander was premiered in 1960 at the Bremen Theater on Goetheplatz .
