Edward Theodore Ling (born March 7, 1983 in Taunton ) is a British marksman in the discipline of trap .

successes

Edward Ling took part in the Olympic Games three times . In 2004 in Athens he missed the final round with 113 points and finished the competition in 25th place. Eight years later he came in London in the qualifying round on 118 points, which he reached 21st place. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he moved into the semi-finals with 120 points as second in the preliminary round, in which he scored 12 goals. In the jump-off he prevailed against Ahmed Kamar and thus reached the duel for the bronze medal in fourth place, which he won thanks to 13 hits. His opponent David Kostelecký only scored nine goals. In World Championships Ling stood three times on the podium: In 2011 he won in Belgrade in the team competition bronze, 2014 in Granada and in 2017 in Moscow , he was vice world champion in singles each. In both the 2015 European Games in Baku and the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast , he missed a medal in fourth place.

He is married to Abbey Ling , who is also a marksman, and has a daughter with her.
