Theophilos Corydalleus
Theophilos Corydalleus ( Greek Θεόφιλος Κορυδαλεύς Theofilos Korydalefs , originally Nicephorus Corydalleus ; * 1563 in Korydallos near Athens ; † 1646 ) was a neo -Aristotelian philosopher. His hometown, to which his name goes back, was renamed by Pachy back to Korydallos in his honor in 1923 .
Corydalleus taught in Athens and Constantinople in Greek, Italian and Latin and later at the Flanginian College in Venice. He translated and published numerous writings from Latin, such as an edition of Aristotle annotated by Cesare Cremonini (printed in Leyden). In 1625 his rhetoric appeared with his pupil and publisher Nicodemus Metaxas in London, which was published again in Venice in 1786. A friendship connected him with Kyrillos Loukaris , a student of his was Germanus, Archbishop of Nyssa.
