Henriette Friederike Therese Elisabeth of Saxony-Altenburg (born October 9, 1823 in Hildburghausen ; † April 3, 1915 in Altenburg ) was a princess of Saxony-Altenburg .

Life

Therese was the second of the four surviving daughters of Duke Joseph von Sachsen-Altenburg (1789–1868) from his marriage to Amalie (1799–1848), daughter of Duke Ludwig von Württemberg . Her godparents were, in addition to her grandfather Ludwig, Prince Alexander and Princess Elisabeth of Württemberg .

Together with her sisters Marie , Elisabeth and Alexandra she was trained by Carl Ludwig Nietzsche . Therese later supported his son Friedrich Nietzsche and his family financially.

Therese, although described as the most attractive of the sisters, never married. Her applicants included the French Emperor Napoleon III. Therese first took care of her seriously ill mother and then looked after her father until his death.

The princess lived in Wolfersdorf Castle for the summer until her death , which could be kept in good condition through constant use and gained importance again for the Altenburg court. In 1894, Kaiser Wilhelm II was a guest at the palace during a hunt. Therese was a lady of the Bavarian Order of Theresa .
